That said, we believe in enjoying our work. Construction kick-offs and completions are often causes for celebration. Events vary, from an evening spent bowling to dinner at the project manager's home, but the purpose is always the same: to have fun, build camaraderie and take pride in our accomplishments. Throughout the year, we find many occasions to work and play together.
In 2007, employees and their families enjoyed a weekend of fun at Lake Chelan in celebration of the company's 40th year in business. Activities included golf, water sports, wine tasting, cycling, socializing, dining and entertainment at several spectacular local venues.
GLY principals demonstrate their appreciation for jobsite management teams and crews by hosting casual barbecues on site.
At our premium annual event, the company celebrates achievements and honors personnel with awards for length of service and individual accomplishment. Dinner and dancing enliven the party, at venues like The Triple Door, Qwest Field, Meydenbauer Center and the Museum of Flight.
Our summer picnic features great food and fun activities for extended family members of all ages.
We host salaried employees at a December Breakfast to share the company's vision and values, financial performance and valuation of the GLY 401(k) Plan.
A company-wide informational forum is held every summer. Topics include vision and values, project updates, current initiatives and financial projections.
At GLY, we're large enough for challenging work, small enough to be "family." It says a lot about the GLY family that many of us get together informally beyond work. We support one another in fundraising marathons; volunteer for charitable construction projects; bowl, bike, fish, ski and golf together; host game-day parties with plenty of friendly-yet-fierce rivalry from our alumni factions. GLY folks also enjoy each other's company in groups loosely organized around mutual interests, such as our car club, our cycle gang and our soulful blues rock band, the uGLYs.
